HB 0621 (Truly Agreed) Creates Missouri State Penitentiary Redevelopment Commission

CCS/HB 621 - This act creates the Missouri State Penitentiary Redevelopment Commission, which shall consist of ten commissioners who shall serve for terms of three years. The Commission shall have the power to acquire title to the Missouri State Penitentiary and any adjacent property, to lease or sell real property consistent with the master plan, to hire employees and to enter into contracts. The Commission may also invest funds, borrow money for construction or repairs to any facility to which it holds title and to purchase insurance. The state shall not be liable for any indebtedness incurred by the Commission. Any income of the Commission shall be exempt from state taxation.

The act also creates a Missouri State Penitentiary Redevelopment Commission Fund within the state treasury, to consist of moneys collected by the Commission. Any balance remaining in the Fund upon the dissolving of the Commission shall be transferred to general revenue.
